I work from my experience as a parent to reveal the relationship of durational events and the material objects of child-rearing to larger systems such as the economy, language, and social relations. A throughline in my practice is an investigation of the knowledge production that takes place in the engagements between parent and child. I unpack the details of my experience by visually building, breaking, and rebuilding the various systems I find myself in to understand how they operate.

My practice has included projects like using my nursery rocking chair as a drawing machine, creating a sculptural book that meticulously documents over 1200 breastfeeding sessions in letterpressed timesheets, unpacking post-partum psychosis, using pedagogical tools like connect the dots worksheets as a visual form, and representing my custody schedule as a way to decenter the default structure of a 7-day week. My intention is to disrupt hierarchical concepts like producer/reproducer by transgressing meaning-making boundaries, revealing these as constructed conventions rather than immutable facts. By committing to representing my parenting experience across my lifetime, I am creating work that contributes to the greater understanding of how caregiving actions build our world.
